Koç University Maritime Forum (KÜDENFOR) organized its annual “Classic Boats Meeting” event this year, hosted by KÜDENFOR Director Admiral Cem Gürdeniz. KÜDENFOR and the Classic Boats Platform, whose maritime safety is ensured by the Maritime Search and Rescue Association (DAKSAR), organized a mass sailing activity at sea to commemorate the 482nd anniversary of the Victory of Preveza and the Naval Forces Day. The event, which brought together classic sailing boats and sailors, was attended by 22 classic boats.

Delivering the opening speech of the meeting, retired Rear Admiral Cem Gürdeniz, Director of KÜDENFOR, said that the Classic Boats Platform had registered 70 classic boats across Turkey and that the first of these boats was Atatürk's yacht Savarona.
Making statements to the press members, Gürdeniz said the following:
“Turkey will catch up with the maritime civilization in the 21st century. It has all the potential to move to that front. This picture gives us tremendous hope. At a time when Turkey is trying to protect the geopolitical interests of future generations in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Aegean at a time when the awakening of the Blue Homeland is so intense, it is important that Turkish maritime is on the rise again, that this message is given to the world in this way on the 482nd anniversary of the Victory at Preveza and on this beautiful day of the naval forces. Turkey will definitely become a maritime nation in the 21st century, there is no turning back. As Koç University Maritime Forum, we established a platform for classic boats three years ago. In Turkey, there are nearly 70 boats between 50-100 years old that need to be passed on to future generations. We register and track these boats. We take measures to pass them on to future generations.’
